~Zool 2 Review By Trinity, Obtained via the Cheet Sheets BBS. Graphics - VGA Soundcards - PC Speaker, Adlib, SB Controls - Joystick and Keyboard Game Style - Arcade/Action (Platformer) Hardware - Needs a 386DX-33 with 4Mbytes of RAM Zool 2 is a traditional run & shooter with a few twists here and there to set it apart from the billions of other games of this same genre. If you've played Zool 1, then you'll know what to expect from this one. Nothing has been drastically changed except that you can now choose to control either a male or female character. (whoopee) I couldn't see any point to this other than to be "politically correct." So I guess we should all congratulate the game's designers for being so in touch with the nineties. Although I couldn't care less. :) The sound effects are adequate, but if you really want to "get into" this game I suggest you keep the music on, as it is very energetic (especially in the intro) and sets the mood perfectly! The graphics are average for a run & shooter and pretty much the same as Zool 1. The only thing that really stands out here is the poor choice of colors in the backgrounds and even in the characters themselves. Similar games such as Doofus and Sonic The Hedgehog were successful not only because they played well, but also because they were pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately, these Zool games are just hideous to look at, and it really takes away from the gameplay. Speaking of the gameplay, it is incredibly fast paced and there is always something to blast or pop open. As a result, the screen often gets cluttered with all the enemies, and food items, etc. and so luckily there is an option to turn the backgrounds off so you can actually train your eyes on one thing at a time and save yourself from any epileptic seizure that may result from trying to follow everything on the screen at once! Hey, it's happened! Overall, this game is mediocre at best. There are plenty of levels, so it should keep you occupied for quite a while, unless you go and use a trainer! But I can't say I'll keep playing this one as there are other, far better games out there at present that are worthy of my homework time. If you liked Zool 1 then by all means go ahead and buy this one because it's just basically an extension on the original, with a chick. ` Ú 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 ¿ Ú 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 ¿ `ÚÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ´ÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂÄÂij `³Graphics ³ þ þ þ þ þ þ ³ Detail ³ þ þ þ þ þ þ ³ `³Animation³ þ þ þ þ þ ³ Interest ³ þ þ þ þ þ ³ `³Sound FX ³ þ þ þ þ þ þ ³ Playability³ þ þ þ þ þ þ ³ `³Music ³ þ þ þ þ þ þ þ ³ Overall ³ þ þ þ þ þ ³ `ÃÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁÄÁij `³ Tested On: 386DX40 ú 4MB RAM ú SVGA ú PAS16 ú Gravis Gamepad ú ³ `ÀÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÙ ~Total Score = 65% ~-----------------
